(34,845 posts)Isn't that just a little...stupid? I mean, are the three remaining countries to consider themselves in competition to swoop up Snowden?
Or should they have a meeting to decide who 'wins' him?
Who gets first 'crack' at him? It seems to me he ended up confusing the issue more than clarifying anything.

(17,064 posts)Its a matter between Snowden and the countries offering asylum. I don't think they will pay the least bit of attention to what you, I, or the rest of DU thinks.

(35,359 posts)I rather expect him to fly to all three countries at the same time.
It would rather save anybody the problem of trying him, and I'm fairly sure the US wouldn't want to ground all the planes carrying him. Perhaps just one, for proof.
Arranging for the pieces to be returned to the US for burial would be a nuisance for his family, though.

(146,331 posts)His options are shrinking and he's probably quite ill at ease right now. His future is uncertain and his friends appear to be drawing further away. I think he needs to get somewhere soon, before there's no place left to go, frankly.
Once he has asylum somewhere and a guarantee of permanent residency, perhaps he can begin rebuilding a life. Until then, it's all up in the air.
Not an enviable position, I think.

(39,324 posts)She was at the conference, said he was shivering, joked that he joked that he hasn't been able to sleep due to the plane announcements and he was the only one who laughed (cue the tuba).
Then, that Wikileaks is the only one he can count on now.
A Russian human rights group showed up but they won't help him, she says they're
just about getting funding from the US (probably usaid).
Sounds like rough sledding for Mr. Snowden.
