(10,820 posts)drive-in in the summer. As a kid, my friends and I loved the drive-in! I remember watching one movie - The Night of the Lepus about giant rabbits raising hell in a small town.

(11,304 posts)the guy had one of those hedge cutters and the shark swallowed him whole along with the cutter and a few minutes later he cut his way out of it and even managed to save the girl that was in there also. Now that took some imagination I must say. It sure would have been great at the drive in movie. Remember the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes? That was really horrible.

(146,331 posts)I don't remember ever doing that, somehow. I know I was at the drive-in, but watching the movie wasn't why.

(269,172 posts)I am in Jamaica and I bought then from a St Elizabeth farmer at our regular vegetable market this morning - they are the tomato experts here. If we had gone downtown they are even cheaper right now.
I have some nice seedlings for later in the year. As Christmas approaches the prices will triple so we'll have our own.

(20,606 posts)was, of course, the geography...
Our heroes start out in a Santa Monica untouched by the forces of gentrification. From a laid-back, beachy dive along Santa Monica Pier they head to Beverly Hills (where the emergency services are "second to none" . They're trying to make it up the 405 Freeway to Van Nuys, which is where things really go off the rails.
Nevermind how ridiculously difficult it is to take cross the Sepulveda Pass. It's the shooting locations that drive us nuts. The characters, who are supposed to be near the 405, take a jaunt along the 6th Street Bridge downtown. We even get a view of the downtown skyline. The Hollywood sign ends up being ripped off its perch in Griffith Park and crashing right on top of a failed actor (one of the most disposable Angeleno stereotypes). One "shortcut" through the Sepulveda Pass and untelevised high-speed car chase later, they end up at their final destination: an airport in Van Nuys where our characters (quite literally) enter the belly of the beast.

(20,606 posts)Last night, the world went crazy with the release of SyFy's "Sharknado." Twitter blew up, everyone watched, worlds were rocked.
If you participated in this gluttonous viewing, you know that the film took place in Los Angeles. And as we soaked it all in, we couldn't help but notice that some of the ways our fair city was depicted were spot-on, while others wereto be kindsomewhat less than accurate. Here are the most pressing truths and lies:

(3,891 posts)I mean, I get the whole starving actor waiting tables hoping to be discovered thing. But really? When someone asks. "Hey man, we got a role for you in a Sci Fi channel move. Sharknado."
At that point, don't you have to ask yourself why you're an actor? I mean, there is no way this is coming off well. Sharknado. Glad I didn't make time to watch that.
Sharknado, you realize if we show it to the Guantanamo Bay prisoners we'll be accused of cruel and unusual punishment.

Then I changed the channel. I was too distressed over that girl falling into the mouth of a shark.
I better check to see when it plays again.
