Of course I don't want anything to actually happen to them, not even threats or jokes, but I do wish they knew the fear that millions of people like Trayvon feel every goddamned day.

My ex husband is Arabic and our son is, obviously, half Arabic.

I remember having to take my damn name off my mailbox after 9/11 - I was separated, but not divorced - so some yahoo wouldn't come into my house and murder my son and me.

My son is now a teenager. I fear his going out at night.
