No prosecutor in this nation, under any law, is going to be able to prove what really happened beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case has no evidence. That's the problem.

They've already given him back his gun. And Judge Nelson has released all the evidence.

No witness saw who threw the first punch and no witness saw what happened when the gun was fired. They fucking saw everything else but not those two key moments. If Zimmerman was guilty he is the luckiest man on the planet.

and while I haven't done any research, that is usually a charge reserved for police and other government employees in a position of authority.

My guess is that the Federal government will wait for the next disaster or public outrage and then do a very quiet news release that "there is insufficient evidence to warrant charging Mr Zimmerman with a civil rights violation".

I'm curious what specific evidence people are looking at that makes this eligible for hate crime prosecution?
