Protesters shut down 10 Freeway in California

Protesters marched onto the eastbound 10 Freeway near Arlington Avenue (map) on Sunday, shutting down the thoroughfare and causing a confrontation with police, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The protesters took to the streets to protest a day after Florida jurors found George Zimmerman not guilty in the killing of Trayvon Martin.

Photos on social media showed a large group of people walking on the freeway with no cars in sight. Several of the people held signs and banners.

This is the way to stand up. Do it peacefully and get mass attention.

I wonder, if Zimmerman had been carrying a rifle instead of a concealed hand gun, would he be walking free?

Not good. Protesters are peaceful. Why do cops have to get violent?

As a former resident of L.A. (grew up near LAX in Inglewood) you don't need a repeat of violent events--of years past. Be safe.
