Defense attorney Mark O'Mara and client George Zimmerman have spent their way through more than $300,000 in donations and are desperate for more funds.

"The case is out of money," O'Mara said Wednesday, just hours before he filed court paperwork asking that the trial, currently scheduled for June 10, be delayed.

Zimmerman's defense fund has raised $314,099.17, O'Mara disclosed, but its balance is currently less than $5,000.

The defense cannot finish preparing for trial, for example hire needed audio and gun experts and private investigators, without more cash, he said. He and Zimmerman need about $30,000 a month, according to his website.

him on as a commentator. Maybe even get his own show on there. Then he will write a book that all of the millions of racist whites will buy, as he is their new found hero. It is pretty sick to think about, but Zimmerman may become rich off of his act of murder.

Zimmerman was broke and needed more donations in order to pay his lawyers. I wonder if his whining generated more donations given Zimmerman and his wife used the initial donations to pay off their personal bills, etc., tried to hide what was left of the money in order to claim they couldn't afford to pay the bail hoping to have the bail reduced. If they had gotten away with this, I have little doubt the next claim would have been they could not afford to pay for their defense hoping to put the cost on the back of the taxpayers of Florida. Shellie Zimmerman was charged with perjury and is still facing court due to this.

Didn't Zimmerman's wife get arrested for lying about how much money they had raised from Paypal donations? I guess that money is gone. Looks like George is not starving himself. In the coming days and weeks we will be hearing about Zimmy's future prospects. Maybe he will guest host on Fox and Friends. Fill in for Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hanity's radio show when they go on vacation. Be guest blogger for a week on Ann Coulter's web site. I think he stands to make millions off this tragedy.
