Having just listened to the juror on CNN makes me want to be sick. I just want to be sick.

(36,974 posts)The juror on TV said they were very confused by the jury instructions on the manslaughter charge.
I think that in the future the juries should get instructions that they can understand - so much time is spent on nonsense during the trial then not enough time on educating the jurors on what the instructions and law is.
I wonder if they even knew that they could stick to their original opinion and let there be a hung jury and then there could have been another trial.

(17,608 posts)After they said they needed clarification and the judge sent back that they needed to ask a specific question.
I see this as evidence that the "not guilty" side browbeat the others into their reading of the instructions.
When I read the instructions, I thought the point that was unclear was where it said basically "if x you must find not guilty" but the next item said "if y you must find guilty"; but I could see how both x and y could be true in a person's mind. In fact I'm pretty close to there myself (but not close enough for it to be a real problem). For me the "y" was stronger, and in any case I thought in context Z couldn't walk for what he did. But I suspect in the jury room, the alpha juror(s) bullied the not-so-alpha jurors into reading it their way, and the alpha juror happened to be pro-Zimmerman.
