A 3-hour protest downtown at City Hall and LAPD HQ was peaceful, with no police intervention, no arrests.

Another protest at Leimert Park in the Crenshaw district (the center of last night's action and arrests) has been peaceful and is still ongoing.

Police made one arrest away from the park after a police helicopter crew allegedly spotted a rapper brandishing a small caliber firearm in the park. Police apprehended him after he left the park and reportedly found he had two outstanding warrants.

LAPD Chief Charlie Beck attributed tonight's peace to the longstanding cooperative relationship between police and event organizers.

Three DUers participated in a Justice for Trayvon march to Leimert Park on April 1 of last year as a followup to L.A.'s earlier Million Hoodie March It was either Fire Walk With Me or ellisonz who took my picture at the park...
