HAH! "Colorado town to consider drone hunting license, bounty" Shoot Out the Drones!

Last edited Fri Jul 19, 2013, 08:32 AM - Edit history (1)

As a Dem who doesn't own a Gun and doesn't want to own one....STILL this News makes me have a BIG SMILE! I saw a map in some article showing the Areas across the USA who (hard up for funds) were going to allow "Drone Testing" and MY State had Three of them...to fly overhead for testing. If I wasn't a peaceful person...I would definitely think of some what to STOP THEM from Surveillance and Taking Out anyone in my City or Town! Just Saying!

------------

A small town in Colorado is considering an ordinance that would create a license and bounty for hunters to shoot down drones.

"We do not want drones in town," Phillip Steel, the Deer Trail, Colo., resident who drafted the ordinance, told Denver's ABC7 affiliate. "They fly in town, they get shot down."

Steel's proposal, recently submitted to the town board, calls for a $25 drone hunting license and outlines "rules of engagement" for hunters looking to shoot down the unmanned aerial devices:

The Town of Deer Trail shall issue a reward of $100 to any shooter who presents a valid hunting license and the following identifiable parts of an unmanned aerial vehicle whose markings and configuration are consistent with those used on any similar craft known to be owned or operated by the United States federal government.

Steel said that while he's never seen a drone flying in Deer Trail, the ordinance is a "symbolic" one.

"I do not believe in the idea of a surveillance society, and I believe we are headed that way," he said.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Deer Trail's population was 559 in 2011.

"They'll sell like hotcakes," Steel said of the proposed drone license. "It could be a huge moneymaker for the town."

David Boyd, one of Deer Field's seven board members, supports the drone ordinance.

"Even if a tiny percentage of people get online (for a) drone license, that's cool," Boyd said. "That's a lot of money to a small town like us. Could be known for it as well, which probably might be a mixed blessing, but what the heck."

There's even talk of the town—which claims to be home to "the world's first rodeo"—hosting the world's first drone hunt. "A skeet, fun-filled festival," town clerk Kim Oldfield said.

The board will consider the drone hunting ordinance on Aug. 6.

But, so far, we as Citizens don't have a choice anymore about whether a Drone is used to find in a "passive way" a "Silver Alert or a Missing Child Alert or Fire or Flood Alert or whatever" GOOD could come from a Drone... The Malevolent Use of them is not Controlled ...so for now, I'm not one that thinks that using them and allowing our Police and Local NOR our US Authority over it's Citizen to use them Nationally, is a good thing.

So...aside from the Funny Factor about the RW wanting Gun Licenses to shoot them down...I'm concerned that I might need to Protect MYSELF and FAMILY from them if what we see going on with Spying on us moves over to "Taking Us Out" because I might have donated to a cause the Government doesn't have on Approved List or Charity or anything that I have always supported...but now is considered by some Military/Industrial Conglomerate as "SUBVERSIVE."

That's what I'm trying to say. I'm a very ordinary person but the kind of "Involved Citizen" that we were taught as children was a GOOD THING....NOW...it's a BAD THING in "These Times" of Endless War against Terrorism.

So...NRA is so poweful they'd probably find or manufacture a DRONE TAKE OUT GUN ....if it would give them more money. Maybe Glenn Beck and whoever else they sponsor would be in favor of it. It's disgusting to think about... but, they've already got the Drone Testing Sites listed all over America. Is there a drone in your neighbourhood? Rise of spy planes exposed after FAA is forced to reveal 63 launch sites across U.S.

Unmanned spy planes are being launched from locations in 20 states and owners include the military and universities

By Julian Gavaghan

There are at least 63 active drone sites around the U.S, federal authorities have been forced to reveal following a landmark Freedom of Information lawsuit.

The unmanned planes – some of which may have been designed to kill terror suspects – are being launched from locations in 20 states.

Most of the active drones are deployed from military installations, enforcement agencies and border patrol teams, according to the Federal Aviation Authority.
Exposed: Location of sites where licences have been granted for the use of drones within the U.S.

Exposed: Location of sites where licences have been granted for the use of drones within the U.S. There are 63 active sites based in 20 states. Red flags show active sites and blue show those locations where licences have expired since 2006

But, astonishingly, 19 universities and colleges are also registered as owners of what are officially known as unmanned aerial vehicles.

It is thought that many of institutions, which include Cornell, the University of Colorado, Georgia Tech, and Eastern Gateway Community College, are developing drone technology.

Death from above: Video of drones fitted with machine guns that could transform the battlefields of the future
Strong border controls and a lack of jobs prompt mass emigration of illegal Mexicans from the U.S.

There are also 21 mainstream manufactures, such as General Atomics, who are registered to use drones domestically.

As well as active locations, the FAA also revealed 16 sites where licences to use spy planes have expired and four where authorisations have been disapproved, such as Otter Tail County, Minnesota.

The authority revealed the information after a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Its website hosts an interactive map that allows the user to zoom in to the area around where they live to see if any sites are nearby.

However, the FAA is yet to reveal what kinds of drones might be based at any of these locations.

The agency says it will release this data later.

Most of the drones are likely to be small craft, such as the Draganflyer X8, which can carry a payload of only 2.2lb.

Police, border patrols and environmental agencies, such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), could use for them effectively.

While few would object to vast open areas being monitored for wildfires, there are fears of privacy violations if drones are used to spy over cities.

The Drones usually use Bombs and Targeting. Remember they can indentify us through our walls or by clothing and habits.

That's what NSA is proud of working with targets in countries where we fly our drones.

Of course...there's still that "Collateral Damage" ...but then ...no one cares about that anymore.

Say a Wedding Party on my Back Yard where I rent a Tent and one of the guests brings a friend on US "Terra List" (say a visiting college student from a country on our watch list who has visited a religious site on our "unapproved list&quot and the Govt. Decides they are a "High Value Target." I live in a University Based /Ethnic and Internationally Diversified City...and there are lots of international students from all over the world that I have access to who could come to wedding or gathering in my back yard.

It could get to that if we don't shut down this stuff right now ASAP. We have a window of opportunity as citizens..
