I'm gobsmacked by the pain and beauty of this poem for Trayvon

As a poet I have been keeping track of some powerful work coming out of the terrible killing. This one is such a rare and beautiful form, so perfectly suited to the whole incident, that I couldn't resist passing it along.

Read the lefthand part all the way through, along with the parts that are centered, in the order that they're there. Then go up to the righthand part and continue, reading only that part and again including the centered parts. Then read all the way across, again including the centered parts. It should all read as a single poem.

The beauty is that the two parts are the two people, and the final runthrough is the union of the two in that last terrible act.

Very powerful… this very poem and the contrapuntal structure.

Thanks for opening my eyes to something new.

I've gotten fond of forms in the past few years. This one's a beaut. And so sad.
