Ahhh nothing like living on the east side. Not even gonna bother calling the cops on this

From 10tv here:
Police Search For Man After Alleged Southeast Side Home Invasion
http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/2013/07/19/columbus-alleged-southeast-side-home-invasion.html

Apparently the guy broke into a home, stole some pills, fled. Maroon truck, they give the plate number.

I was outside a bit ago (might have noticed a gap in my posting...) and saw this asshole drive by at about 50mph. In my hood. Heard sirens on the main road. Caught the first part of his license number (something I look for when I see odd cars around here).

Ranted before about this - I have called the cops I don't know how many times on people breaking into abandoned homes here and stealing things. Hell, they have come out, confronted the people, had them put things back and left (why you ask? Because they are idiots - Bank Of America uses two keys nationwide for locks on foreclosed home and tons of thieves have them. Cops show up, they claim to be working for the bank and clearing things out, forgot the paper work, show the key, cop lets em go). And not just once.

I personally know the drug dealers here and the guys who have a theft ring (they bum smokes off me and hang out once in awhile - they also give me a ride when I need it). I could buy just about anything, and if they don't have something I want they would get it. They have offered me sawed off shot guns, handguns, you name it. Yesterday one of the guys showed me pics on his phone of a bunch of guns he had for sale.

Called the cops on some of them (a few I don't particularly like) when I caught them doing that in my area. Nothing ever done. Even when some of the young punks would do damage to things....nothing. We had a riot here, like 20 people 3 doors down from me fighting. No one went to jail (the cops did show up for that though) but there were a few restraining orders issued.

Out here anymore, we don't even bother to call the police mostly (some of the newer folks still do). I get along with the folks, tolerate them, they don't mess with me or my family (helps having grown up with their dads and such).

At 4am the other night I was outside and cops were cruising around. Told me to go back in the house. Told them I had a big stick (which I did) and I was an ex cop and was not going back in. They were looking for a guy wearing only boxers that had broke into a home. Talked to a friend yesterday and know who it was now, one of the same people I had called on many times before.

Wrote the mayor and complained in the past about it all. Nothing. Called some old friends on the force as well, still nothing done.

So no, I ain't gonna call em and tell em I saw this guy and his truck. Waste of my time.

If you are counting on the cops to protect you...well don't. I *DO* understand some of it from their perspective (your word vs another person's, could it be prosecuted and won, etc) but when you have evidence (which I have had, like plate numbers that were stolen from dealers and such) and they do nothing, or worse, don't bother to get out of the car and make a report - well....fuck em.

a photo of the perp, his license plate number, his home address - and still they either wno't take a report at all, or take the report but no detective ever bothers to follow up.

I have no idea what LAPD does all day long. They sure don't do "policing".

He's benefiting from this "thief ring". I mean really, how good can they be if they still have to bum smokes?

Which is one reason why they steal.

You obviously have not been around a lot of people in such situations.

Most the dealers and such here are users as well. Regular smokes are something they enjoy here and there, but they prefer other things.

Me, I don't do pot/etc but I like to smoke. They know that and always know I have some home rolled ones around.

It is not really complicated Been around people like this most of my life - from pill heads to pot heads (no offense to those who like pot) to meth addicts. Cigarettes are a fix between fixes for some and are legal. I tend to stay legal, people know that, and I am the guy they know they can get some from.

I made reports, got camera shots of the damn meth equipment sitting around, before they moved it all inside,
snaps of cars and license plate and pics of people going and coming, including all their tatoos...neighbors called with same complaints of constant traffic all day and all night.
Nothing...
This was in SF.

Then found out the meth dealers left also a few months later, restoring the neighborhood to peace and quiet.
