I personally know Blacks who have carry permits. I have also witnessed many concealed weapons classes qualifying on the pistol range and while the overwhelming majority of the students were White or Hispanic, some were Black.

The NRA was indeed largely responsible for getting "shall issue" concealed carry passed in 1987. If the organization was actually as racist as the cartoon suggests, surely it would have pushed for "may issue" concealed carry. "May issue" would allow racism to poison the process of issuing carry permits in many Florida counties.

Of course, Trayvon was four years away from being able to obtain a carry permit in Florida. He may have well been in his right to stand his ground against an aggressive George Zimmerman but he would have had to be 21 to to get a carry a concealed weapon in Florida.

I personally see absolutely no problem with any honest individual obtaining a concealed weapons permit. I should point out that I am not advocating that every honest person run out and get one. Firearms are extremely dangerous items and are NOT for everybody.
