(12,496 posts)People need to take out their acceptance of the debate as a negative one and turn it back onto the ones who have made it ours to defend. Put them on the defensive, and see how far they can go.

(3,709 posts)If "Pro-Life" needs to become "Anti-Choice",
would the debate need reframing again if "Pro-
Choice" becomes "Anti-Life"?

(36,827 posts)They want to paint the pro-choice crowd as pro-death or anti-life. Nobody is pro-abortion. The same people who are pro-choice also are strong advocates for the wide availability of birth control and comprehensive sex education in schools. The people who pretend to be against abortions are also the same people who are against the things which prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place therefore insuring more abortions.
I would argue that the anti-choice crowd is far more anti-life.

(18,505 posts)Pro-Birth really is the best way to put it, since once a child is actually born the Republicans couldn't really care. We know this from their agressive shipping of jobs overseas while simultaneously railing against the "safety net" that keeps people afloat when they need it. Nothing Pro-Life about those positions.

(6 posts)I agree that we need to alter the use of this meme. We have, for too long, allowed the Right Wingers unquestioned
use of this Orwellian Doublespeak term. I suggest that we aggressively address this by referring to them as
"Pro-Birth"....This term cuts through the deception and reveals the actual truth of their position as expressed and
revealed through their actions.
The "ReichWing" uses the terminology of "Pro-Life," yet promote policies that only seem to want children to
be born into a dog-eat-dog, Ayn Randian, 'survival of the richest" world. They do not, in actuality care, or have
any plan to help these children once they arrive.....far from being "Pro-Life" they encourage a harsh, heartless,
almost Satanic (i.e. Ayn Rand's "everyone for themselves philosphy" even though she, herself, died while
living on government benefits...this philosophy was actually used as the basis for the founding of the Church
of Satan) approach to the world....

(54,448 posts)Most anti-abortion rights people are for the death penalty and eat meat and/or fish.
What they are "pro-" is the right to dictate their religious and moral views to others, and
punish those who disagree with them. That does not define "life" to me.

(8,933 posts)people who are here already. it's like the clean air act and all the other things they purposely misname to make it sound better. it is about forcing their beliefs on everyone else.

(10,751 posts)...that's the term I prefer because that is a literal description of their position. They want to force 10-year-olds who have been raped to give birth; they want to force women whose baby has no brain, to carry that baby to term and then watch it die; they would force women with ectopic pregnancies to die rather than abort the precious (and already doomed) fetus. And of course, they want any woman who does not want a baby, to be forced to have it anyway. After all, she could have just put an aspirin between her legs. Because it's all on the woman, dontcha know.
A pox on these knuckle-dragging morons. I hope they choke on their Viagra. Seriously.
