(36,974 posts)They told the doctor they did not want to know ahead of time.
If you heard weeks ago that it was a boy then what you heard was just a rumor.

(26,263 posts)I kind of thought that maybe the knew the gender, when they changed the law. But, according to all of the press, the couple really did not know, and wanted nobody else to know, if it was a boy or girl until the child was born.
So, history wasn't made, but a healthy baby born to such a loving couple is always a blessing.

There's a reason why there are no girls after me, I guess.

(22,541 posts)All poofy and blown dry and gelled slick on the sides. Or spiky and glittery on the top. Remember those days?
While watching the London Olympics and all the gold and glitter I had a flashback of those days. It's about time for Glam Rock and Glam clothes to come around again and London was pushing it. So be prepared and be very, very afraid.
Or install an extra bathroom.

(46,179 posts)I've got a couple of pictures of me with 80s big hair; all complements of my then SIL, who was a hairdresser. I never did it for myself, but when she wanted a "girls night out," she insisted on doing it for me. She also insisted on choosing my wardrobe. She turned me out pretty well, lol.
My radar for fashion is all wrapped up in my students: middle schoolers. I kept wondering when the too-low-cut skinny jeans were EVER going to fade, and, toward the end of last school year, I saw some hopeful trends. But...fashion just keeps cycling around, and here is comes again. The stuff they were showing up in after spring break distinctly reminded me of the 80s.

(22,541 posts)Wasn't it always that way? Except for the glorious San Francisco days, Haight-Ashbury, flower children, long long hair and no make.up. Maxi skirts, tie-dye and beads.
Oh, and Seattle 90s grunge. T-shirts over other t-shirts under flannel shirts over baggy jeans. Converse high-tops, not tied.
Speaking of the 80s though, I'm really into retro clothing. The real stuff. And I have the most magnificent black suede coat, sort of triangular in line, with a large hood that lies flat on the shoulders and forms a triangle on the back. And it has little gold 4-point stars all over the shoulders and lapels. It was given to me not long ago since I collect nice retro. I'd almost put up with Clam Rock again to wear it once. Almost.

(37,152 posts)That was the rumor if it was a girl - not the first name, I'm sure.
I'd like it if they used Spenser in Diana's honor, but I'm sure the Queen has to approve so it'll probably be some boring old-fashion name to fit historical guidelines.
