I met and got to know Dennis pretty good when we were both running or State Senate.

(45,558 posts)It was the best years of my professional life.
I set up my tax business in the County Dem's HQ and was in the middle of three congressional races, two presidential races, a lot County Officials.
I met so many people coming in and out of the county. Richard Cordray ran or State Treasurer one year and we worked together. I did polling with Zogby and designed sample ballots that we sent out to 250k democratic households.
Unfortunately, it was also taxing my health. I was burning it at on three ends; The Political Stuff, Writing for a local newspaper and my small, but vibrant tax business.

(45,558 posts)I was running around three ways to nowhere but I was close enough to the inner circle of Ohio Politics to see why stuff gets done and why some stuff doesn't get done...
Best six years of my life. I was on the local news at least 6 times a year during that span. I was also writing for a bi-weekly alternative magazine. I was featured several time on the local network and was on the premier Ohio political show at least a dozen times.
And, on election night in 1998, I was the featured democrat on all the local coverage.
It was pretty cool. It's what I always wanted.
