Senate Intel Leaders (Feinstein,Chambliss) Slam House Measure To Cut NSA Surveillance Funds

The heads of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday criticized a House amendment targeting funding for the National Security Agency’s surveillance programs.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and ranking member Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) issued a joint statement Tuesday that called the amendment from Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) “unwise.”

“We believe this debate in the Congressional Intelligence and Judiciary committees should continue and that any amendments to defund the program on appropriations bills would be unwise,” the senators said.

“Since the public disclosure of the business records program, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has explored how the program can be modified to add extra privacy protections without sacrificing its effectiveness,” they added.

She's soaked the public for too long, I think she needs to retire and let someone more progressive sit in her seat.

Chambliss should retire as well, but I would expect this from him.

She JUST got re-elected at 79 fucking year old! I SOOOOO wanted her to not run as we have a couple of really good contenders just a waiting in the wings (Kamala Harris being one of them). But no, the old bat wasn't rich enough, I guess. Still LOTS more money to be made.

I think she would be a good choice. Feinstein and her husband have fed at the public trough for too long.

I watched a segment on democracy now this am with a clip of her saying civilians killed by drones were in the single digits. She defended the program by saying there was congressional oversight . Both statements were shown to be false by the center for investigative journalism. She is my senator and disgusts me.

I find this disconnect very strange around DU lately. It's rather discomforting, but I do appreciate what you said.
