and knows the city inside out, he's not a politicker and his plans are often the most progressive. He's also a stand up guy who cares about people and he's works exceptionally hard (my fave type of pol). He tends to be a little liberal activist at times (like getting arrested during protests) so i wonder how he'll manage the other half of the city (well, the top 10%), but he'll always be the first one to speak up if a hospital or low income housing is threatened, and you always know where he stands. Howard Dean backs him if that means anything to you.

Thompson i'm still mad at because he came so close to winning i feel like if he had only tried harder, but then again, his party abandoned him b/c they didn't want to be bothered and they didn't want to piss bloomy off.

Liu, same as Bill for the most part but he has a little bit of drama, who doesn't. well, BdB doesn't, but i think you can't go wrong with either of those 2.

and Thompson could beat Quinn in a runnoff for absolutely sure. DeBlasio i'm not so sure. But thompson has the recognition and nothing offensive in his background that stands out. I like him, i'm just mad at him. lol. I think BT could beat Quinn. And he can DEF win in the general, that an easy peasy win for him. And Weiner is an ASSHOLE for running knowing that his dick pics are gonna show up and they may give the race to Quinn. Actually, he's an asshole for sending the pics in the first place for the reason i just mentioned (and i don't mean the original twitter pics, thats just fine, i dealt with it, but this new shit, what an asshole).

and he really is an idiot. He'da been better off screwing someone in person than sending proof around. Idiot.

To a non-New Yorker she looks good on paper but NOBODY likes her. Is it just the Bloomberg 3rd term thing or does it go deeper?

Sounds like there are other good choices regardless.

I don't live in NYC, and don't really know who any of the other people are running for mayor, but I'd never vote for Weiner in a primary. He's shown time and time again to be a complete idiot.

First, when early reports of the sexting scandal started Weiner should have been viciously attacking the media because the source of the story was Brietbart, a known serial liar who's stories like this have been thoroughly debunked but only after the mainstream media ruins someone reputation with a lie.

Second, when deciding to start to come clean that it was true Weiner like an idiot did it half way, claiming he couldn't 'confirm or deny' that the pictures were him, ensuring the story stayed alive even longer.

Third, he was dumb enough to resign from congress over what was really a minor scandal, a scandal entirely about his personal life and not something horrible he did on the job in congress. He should have simply just said he wasn't running for reelection, and served out the rest of his term.

And then fourth, the fact that Weiner was dumb enough to keep up his sexting even after resigning. And then to handle that new info on his sexting scandal he pulls the old 'get the wife to publicly defend me for my actions of cheating on my wife', that's just disgusting hiding behind his wife like that.

If Weiner was elected, he would continue to be a national embarrassment for the entire democratic party.

If I lived in NYC I would not want someone who has proven themselves a complete idiot in so many ways over the last few years to be my mayor.

I own property in NYC, on-paper reside there P/T and can legally register to vote there. I'm probably staying registered in suburban Maryland.

I'd don't know who I'd vote for if I were to vote in NYC...I'm leaning away from Weiner but I'd have to look at the other candidates. Definitely not Quinn. My other choices?

Here are a few things that people object to and the type of politician she is...

One major beef is that she blocked the paid sick leave act for 3 years, (until she ran for mayor, then all the sudden she voted for it)

She didn’t life a finger when a number of NYC hospitals went bankrupt and were closed, namely St. Vincent’s and another hospital in uptown. Surprise surprise, St. Vincent’s was sold in to make way for luxury housing and a promised “walk in emergency center” to be opened in 2014 (phht, it’ll prolly be a CVS walk-in clinic ).

She lobbied for Bloomberg to get a third term AFTER NY’ers had a separate vote for term limits TWICE and we voted FOR term limits. They overruled the will of the people in a meeting.
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/23/council-to-debate-term-limits-change/

She has been Bloomberg’s water carrier for his last term so that he can help her get elected, which is why people call her Bloomberg 2.0. Which would be bad enough except she doesn’t have any of his GOOD qualities. Of all the *good* things that Bloomberg has done, and he has done quite a few, there is no way she could have managed any of those things (the bike lanes, health initiatives, etc) b/c she is not a visionary and her only agenda is the Mayor’s mansion. So all we get is the sellout of NYC.
And that’s just a smidgeon of her type of politics.

On a personality level she is a hot mess, which one can witness on a regular basis. She spins being a “pushy broad, but she can actually be quite nasty and is rarely composed.

"in private, friends and colleagues say, another Ms. Quinn can emerge: controlling, temperamental and surprisingly volatile, with a habit of hair-trigger eruptions of unchecked, face-to-face wrath."

Her staff added soundproofing to her office. They also ask each other "Did she throw up on you today?"

A former donor says one time, "She screamed at me for 10 minutes, uninterrupted, and used the ‘F’-word at least 20 times. I was just so startled, I didn’t know what to do."

One ex-city official describes it as "old-fashioned screaming, in a way that you just don’t hear that much."

She is also the most unserious politician you could ever lay eyes on, and not in a fun way. I call her the clown cuz that’s exactly what she acts like.

She sticks up for gay rights. Other than that she has not a single good quality

This goes a long way toward helping me make sense of the race. And while I'm glad she's so supportive of gay rights, as an out lesbian its hard to imagine her being otherwise.

Nothing like the opinion from the people most closely affected!

every single time she shows up on tv she's either yelling or acting stupid.

"Christine, what are you going to do about the increasing rat problem"

answer? not: we're working with a new company and allocating resources...blah blah blah. but

not kidding:

"to them i say, pack your furry bags, you're goin home!"

that's what she said. Dude, rats are crawling over people's feet in the subway and the parks and that's what she answered. She sucks beyond belief.

21. Look at Thompson and DeBlasio.
Wed Jul 24, 2013, 01:24 AM
Jul 2013

Blasio has the right policies, always very much concerned with lower and middle income persons and their daily lives. Also has the character for sure.

Bill Thompson you know what you're getting, he is very typical nyc democrat.

Thompson is doing better in the polls than DeBlasio so if it comes down to putting up whoever can be in the runoff against Quinn, you want Thompson, he is much more likely to beat her in the runoff than DeBlasio. DeBlasio is a great guy, but he is just always on about education and lower income housing, which is GREAT, however, middle income manhattanites are not going to be running to the polls for someone who often talks about other boroughs and who starts every speech with education, cuz a lot of them don't have kids and don't care about the other boroughs (fair enough).
