If you read anything today, make it this comments section from Guardian.

Following the story on the amash amendment in Congress this afternoon.

The comments seem to me to be the kind of astonishment and fervor that would have fueled the dumping of the tea in the Boston harbor so long ago.

The world is being radicalized right before our very eyes. Best to pay attention now.

Lost 205 to 217. A majority of Republicans supported the Whitehouse, a majority of Democrats supported the amendment.

They apparently had military brass and security honchos launch a full court press on Capitol Hill. Condition red; terrorist attack imminent.

micro-logging/indexing the entire populace into categories - behavior and predicted behavior analysis. This nation is on a horribly dangerous path ... ushering in who knows what horrific regimes in the future.

..... the day my heart stood still in total disbelief.

I could write the same right now.

The Amash/Conyers amendment was the best of the solutions offerred. Now we'll get second or third best, if anything, and the NSA will continue as planned. Our liberty is not a part of their plan. imho

It appears they may have won as our War on Terror is turning our nation into a police state.

Don't kid yourself. The 1% believe data gathering is a great idea as it will help insure that little will change in our nation. The rich will get richer and the middle class will continue to disappear.

Someone pointed out sideways how the President used the bully pulpit to defeat this.

How many people have told us the President is Powerless and needs to stay "neutral"?

He does a perfectly good job using his influence when he really wants something.
