(FL) Depleted Uranium Found at Opa-Locka Airport

Depleted uranium was found at Opa-locka Airport at 14201 NW 42nd Avenue, according to Miami-Dade officials.

A HazMat team is on scene to monitor the situation.

Officials said there were no injuries.

Probably just the word "uranium" is enough to trigger hazmat.

If somebody empties a drawer at a local school and finds a mercury thermometer, still in its case and intact, they call hazmat.

Commercial: Calorimeters/Detectors, Radiation Shielding, Counterweights, Flywheels, and Sinker Bars
Military: Kinetic Energy Penetrators, Shape Charge Liners and Explosively Formed Penetrator Lenses, Armor
Scientific/Analytical: Electron microscopy, sodium determinations
