Don't You Just Hate Those "Opportunity...That's The Real Wal-Mart" Commercials...

I've seen this commercial many times on many different channels, and every time, it manages to make me angry.

Who do they think they're kidding? Highlighting the "wonderful opportunities" for Wal-Mart employees. You know what else would be a wonderful opportunity...if they could unionize. Or if their employees were paid a living wage.

This corporate propaganda makes me sick!

One of those ridiculous propaganda commercial asks "man-in-the-street" questions about who/what has given more than 325 million pounds of food away during disasters and such. Walmart, of course.

Sometimes I think my weekly grocery loads add up to 325 million pounds - hey, can I help it if I like watermelon? But here's my question. Just what does 325 million pounds of food look like. And, at cost, what is the value of 325 million pounds of food? What does that amount to as a percentage of Walmart's annual revenues? And what impact would it have on the Walton family fortune if they were to double this amount. Or, and here I'm just spitballing, pay a living wage to its employees?

The little TV we watch (and it is very little), we sit with the remote and mute them all. My assumption is they are essentially all lies or exaggerations.
