Senate Dems to Obama: NO LARRY SUMMERS at Fed

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324564704578628354053170998.html

Signers include DiFi, Durbin, Angus King.

Tom Harkin quote:

I can't find any support for Larry Summers on the Democratic side of the aisle

Pelosi subtly piled on (House irrelevant to confirmation anyways):

In another boost for Ms. Yellen, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said in an interview with Bloomberg television, due to air this weekend, that while both Mr. Summers and Ms. Yellen were well qualified, "it would be great to have a woman'' nominated to the post. If nominated and confirmed, Ms. Yellen would be the first female Fed chief.

Summers has even given Obama the treatment with his "Home Alone" comment. Why does this matter? The next Fed chief is bound to face a major crisis and temperament is important. Whatever one feels about Bernanke, he was not a game player; you were getting his best intellectual judgment, not a personal agenda.

positive statements about Helicopter Ben are enough for me.

Yellen would seem to be but from the same mold.

And, yeah, who would have figured that a career-long pattern of being an arrogant asshole would catch up to Summers?

Of course there are some that feel as if no one in the financial or banking field should be chosen...

But an art curator or nutritionist would be a disaster. Just a hunch.

There are plenty of people who don't work for Goldman Sachs or the usual suspects who could run the Fed competently and not have a conflict of interest. That might be too much to ask, though. Grand Canyon deep levels of corruption seem to be in vogue lately.

All the lefties will be so glad it's not Summers that Yellen will get minimal flak from the Firebaggers.

Eleven dimensional chess indeed.
