I won't use out of context quotes and deceptive editing to put words in people's mouths like James O'Keefe.
I won't use bullying tactics to shout down my opponents like Bill O'Reilly.
I won't put party before policy in the crass desire for power like Karl Rove.
I won't blindly support a politician because that's what I'm supposed to do like the posters at Free Republic.
I won't continue to push stories that I know aren't true like Drudge.
I won't be vindictive against those who disagree with me like Dick Cheney.
And I won't demand absolute fealty to my party like Mitch McConnell.
What I will do is stand by the Democratic principles of decency, equality, compassion, logic and honesty that I grew up with. I will continue to try my best to live up to those standards and learn new ways to advance them. I will try to listen with an open mind when I'm confronted with new idea and I will try to remember that even when someone doesn't quite live up to these ideals, he or she is still a person worthy of my respect.
But no matter how much I fail in upholding Democratic principles, I will not be like them.

(62,325 posts)Progressive Democrats though, doesn't there? Some more subtle than others, but transparent enough to most Democrats nevertheless. I wonder why? Why not just discuss the issues that are the reason for the anger among Democrats? If they are right, they should be able to bring people over to their side.
Anyhow, you are not alone, thankfully. Most Dems agree with you.

(11,709 posts)But for many it seems the need to be right or to protect a politician trumps the principles most of us always connected with being a Democrat. If Democrats just wanted to win elections with no concern for the people we would have never become the party of civil rights or the social safety net. We would have wooed fundamentalist evangelicals at the expense of LGBT rights.
But we didn't. We have principles that the adherents of the other side don't. I'm proud of that.

(75,480 posts)I highly recommend.
I will also add. I won't continually attack the messenger with ad hominems and character assassination, like Ann Coulter, because I don't have any real facts to talk about.
