Check this out:

I never knew that a PLU code starting with a 3 means that produce is actually nuked.

I knew about using 4/9 for conventional/organic but I wasn't aware of the other codes. I've never seen an 8 in stores which surprises me.

PLU code starting with an 8 represents GMO. And yes, I've never seen one in the store (and I've looked for years).

Question: if GMO is safe for us, why don't they religiously mark produces with an 8?

At this point PLU codes are more of a concept than a consistently and universally applied standard (as far was we know, no supplier or vendor has ever used the '8' digit that identifies GM produce), and they were not created for the benefit of consumers.... If you only want organic produce, look for items that are specifically labeled as "Organic"; if you want to ensure you avoid any GM produce, buy only items that are USDA certified as "organic" or "made with organic ingredients" (which cannot by law be produced from GMOs).

The United States has no government-sponsored food-labeling schemes that state whether or not food products contain GM material.

I showed this to people who only buy organics... they didn't know about PLU codes 3 (nuked) and 6 (precut).

The information is readily available on line by the company that invented the codes. Did you read it? Any info on your video thats not in that PDF if BS.

The only meanings are:
5 figures starting with 8 - GMO (though whether anyone uses that in practice is questioned)
5 figures starting with 9 - organic
5 figures starting with 0, or just 4 figures - everything else.

And each of those 4 figures have no meaning - they are just numbers, assigned each time someone wants a new category. And they all currently are in the range 3000 - 4999, which means you would be falsely making people think normal products are 'nuked', by which I presume you mean irradiated in some form. You should go back to those people and tell them the video is wrong about '3'.
