Lockerbie Bomber release was part of Arms Deal with Libya.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that a secret communication clearly shows the Lockerbie Bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi’s release was more closely negotiated with the Arms Deal than had previously been admitted.

An email sent by the then British ambassador in Tripoli details how a prisoner transfer agreement would be signed once Libya “fulfils its promise” to buy an air defence system.

So besides the obvious question, why the bomber of Pan Am 103 was judged so invaluable that our Ally could release him in favor of weapons systems sales to at most, unfriendly nations could even be considered.

Was this document released as Libya opens it's files? Or was this part of the Snowden/Manning information so much of which is still unknown? Either way it shows the limited interest that Governments have in seeking Justice for the citizens harmed by Terrorism.

Far from 'clearly' showing the Lockerbie bomber was involved, it shows he wasn't muriel_volestrangler Jul 2013 #2

I hope the release of previously classified information will include communications on and about 9/11. I hope it happens in my lifetime...

See http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1014&pid=550286 . The air defence system was not sold; the prisoner transfer agreement excluded al-Megrahi.

The document was released in response to a Freedom of Information request.
