Nobody's saying "Let Weiner slide".

We are all aware that he made some embarrassing mistakes with a computer. The evidence is, literally, out there in plain view for all to see. I had to ask myself "what was this guy thinking? He's going after real power and corruption, and he thinks he isn't a target"?
Then I thought about it from a male perspective. And I had to admit, with perhaps a bit of jealousy. If I had the drive and determination to keep myself looking like this -

... the cup of my libido might runneth over also!

When I think of a New Yorker, I don't think of a stuffed shirt, or a quiet, humble man. I think of someone with a bit of swagger in their walk, maybe a bit loud (can hear you over traffic!) and perhaps a small chip on the shoulder. But I also think of someone who won't hesitate to help others, as we saw in the countless acts of heroism on September 11, 2001. New Yorkers to me are brave people who take shit from no one.

And Anthony Weiner, to me, is the personification of "New Yorker". I don't have much to go on, but his wiki entry lists his accomplishments when he was on NYC city council.

"After six years in Schumer's office, Weiner's first chance at political office came in 1991 when the New York City Council was expanded from 35 to 51 seats.[10] Considered a long-shot, Weiner faced strong primary competition from two other candidates whom had better local name recognition and funding.[2][10] Right before the September primary, Weiner blanketed the predominantly white 48th council district with anonymous leaflets playing on the voters' fears and racial hostility in the immediate aftermath of the Crown Heights race riots and tying his white opponents to black politicians who were deeply unpopular in the district.[10] Weiner won the primary, besting his opponents by over 100 votes. Weiner easily won the general election in the largely Democratic district.[10] Weiner then became, at age 27, the youngest councilman in City history.[2][10]

Over the next seven years on the City Council, Weiner initiated programs to address quality of life concerns. He also started a program to put at-risk and troubled teens to work cleaning up graffiti, and spearheaded development plans for historic Sheepshead Bay that led to a revival of the area.[11]

As chairman of the Subcommittee on Public Housing, he sought to increase federal funding, ban dangerous dogs, and to increase the number of police officers. His investigation into the cause of sudden, fatal stairwell fires made headlines, and he exposed dangerous practices that eventually led to the replacement of paint in developments citywide.[2]

To me, this sounds like a good guy who loves New York City and has a lot of compassion for people. Just as important, he seems like the kind of guy who is passionate and driven, and sincerely believes in what he is doing. Whether or not he can overcome his mistakes remains to be seen. But, if he can channel that vitality and drive into running the City of New York, New Yorkers will reap the benefits.

A P.S. - there is a dark and disturbing piece related to his wife in wiki...

"On June 13, 2012, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Congressman Trent Franks (R-Arizona), Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Congressman Tom Rooney (R-Florida), and Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (R-Georgia) sent a letter to the Deputy Inspector General of the Department of State, Harold W. Geisel, requesting an investigation into the influence of anyone associated with the Muslim Brotherhood on State Department policy, citing a study by the Center for Security Policy that claimed that Abedin "has three family members–her late father, her mother and her brother–connected to Muslim Brotherhood operatives and/or organizations".[15][16]

Republicans John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Scott Brown (R-Mass.) and Ed Rollins defended Abedin against these allegations.[17][18] McCain stated, "These allegations about Huma and the report from which they are drawn are nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable woman, a dedicated American and a loyal public servant... The letter and the report offer not one instance of an action, a decision or a public position that Huma has taken while at the State Department that would lend credence to the charge that she is promoting anti-American activities within our government... These attacks on Huma have no logic, no basis and no merit. And they need to stop now."[18]

So, Michele Bachman, Trent Franks, Louie Gohmert, Tom Rooney, Lynn Westmoreland, Dead Breitbart and Clarence Thomas all hate the Weiners?

THEN I AM 110% BEHIND THEM

And while I'm at it, here's something from another fiery, passionate New Yorker I admire.
Neil Diamond with the immortal Johnny Cash!

this is someone who did not have the patience to wait for his issues to be resolved. While I do not eliminate politicians for having affairs or just video affairs, it is how Weiner handled it. Some politicians have been fine while being manic depressive, narcissistic or bawdy. But it is how it was handled that it is the issue. If there is still some texting going on, either don't care about it or fix it, in this case we were told it was behind them, but it is not. It is not the lying because a lot of people lie, but it is the total mishandling of it that makes me believe this man is not ready for office. Would you hire an alcoholic to be a chauffeur who said it was behind them but they might still be actively drinking?

I don't' really care about his sex life. It isn't about honesty, people lie. It is about his public relations skills that he will need in the job of Mayor.
I agree with his policies, but will he be able to carry them out or will he be crippled by his ability to handle crisis management?

this is none of my business or anyone else's business but him and her. And it seems to me that he is aggravating it and that pisses me off. He can screw around as much as he wants but I don't want to be involved.

And with that, I'm done with this subject.

With how many millions of democrats living in NYC, why do we need to get behind one with this behavior and issues? Surely we can find another qualified democrat with identical or better stances on the issues.

then that if you are offended by a picture of a mans chest, I must respectfully ask you to put me on ignore, for two reasons. 1. I really don't want to offend any DUers, and 2. I am not going to change my writing style to accommodate someone who is offended by a picture of a mans pectorals. Sometimes, I even post pictures of biceps!

What is it with these people? Can they not do anything in the private sector? Do they simply have to suck at the govt teet? His wife must be humiliated to have such a scum bag as a husband. I can only imagine what his child will endure as he gets older….Unreal, this guy. Go away and get a real job…The sense of entitlement is astounding
