Have we done ANYTHING right in the War on Terror?

When the second plane hit the World Trade Center I knew we'd fuck this up.

We had more international good will immediately after 9/11 than at any time since the end of WW II and we pissed it all away. We had the option of enrolling the internation law enforcement community, spending a few bucks to beef them up, and chasing down the CRIMINALS that committed the CRIME against us. Instead, we got a military reaction, Shrubster grabbing his crotch and feeling tough as he sent our young men and women to be maimed and killed, all while legitimizing and strenghtening the CRIMINALS.

We spent our children's and grandchildren's future on two misguided wars, both of which made things far worse both at home and abroad. We destroyed all that good will, and earned a whole bunch of ill will by torturing, killing countless innocents and spying on our friends as well as our selves.

We had the disasters of Abu Graib and rendition and we still have Gitmo and now drones. We may have killed the Al Qaeda #2 guy a dozen times, but we've encouraged thousands to replace the next one, all angry at our murdering their loved ones.

A trillion dollars plus down the drain, and the only winners are the MIC and big oil investors who are destroying our planet as fast as they can.

Expose our bad behaviors and we'll throw you in Leavenworth for a hundred years.

Could we have done any worse? Is it insane to have a war on a state of mind?

We let the right pass the patriot act, get us into wars, increase spying on each other, make it so that you can't even walk to the gate in an airport with your kid without a hassle, we see each other as the enemy most of the time, set up DHS and TSA when they were not even needed (we could have prevented the attacks with what intel we had).

We leaned right and stared into the abyss of financial disaster and two decade long wars.

We did something 'right' alright, we let them have power....
