it would seem that the asscarrot isn't even any good at THAT.

What a waste of $174 grand a year. Every damned one of them.

In a way, this is the classic act of trying to look busy for the boss, even if one isn't doing anything productive. In this case, it's also playing to their idiotic base who thinks Obamacare with cause the apocalypse, but the house repubs don't expect it to do any good, and hey, they get paid for it (the aforementioned x million).

In addition, it's something they can do to avoid working on anything useful. If they actually did anything useful, there's a really good chance that it would piss off a sizable portion of their base, like if they passed the farm bill, it could look like they worked with Democrats or that they were spending money (not for defense, which is perfectly OK to spend money on, even if it's for something that isn't needed - think of Al Madrigal in "Tanks Tanks Tanks&quot . Republicans know that they are unpopular, which is why we have voting ID laws, extreme gerrymandering, and whatnot. If the repubs piss of any part of their base, all those other things might not be enough for them to hang onto any power.

So no, it's not insanity.
