(31,849 posts)are those saying that SL needs a thicker skin the same ways that defended greenwald's thin-skinned responses when he got challenged?
Yep, I thought so. Funny how that works, huh?

They live in An alternate reality and they 're not going to get it anyway. Because they're not in touch with the fact based world. I guess that's the definition of insanity.

At least he had the courage to go on there and try. If he made one Fox Zombie or Dittohead think twice, it would be worth it. Sometimes too Republicans throw so much garbage out there it gets rather confusing and difficult to respond to it all. How does one get through to a crazy person? You don't. Plain and simple.

(113,064 posts)the world throughout that week. Not to mention the added discomfort that the annex attacked was a covert CIA operation. That is why the CIA controlled the talking points.
The RW narrative has been that any talk about those violent protests was a lie and to cover up Benghazi, however, practically speaking, what is a State Dept to do when there are dozens of violent protests popping up all over the world at your embassies and consulates all at the same time? Focus only on one consulate where people are dead or try to deal with all of them all over the world to try and prevent the deaths of others?
RW hates it when you speak logically on one of their networks.

(53,661 posts)Only when he is frustrated in his mind and in his deliberations can he stand up anew.
Only when his intentions become visible on his countenance and audible in his voice can he be understood by others.
Only then do we realize that anxiety and distress lead to life and that ease and comfort end in death.
~ Confucius
I don't take that quote as describing something too lofty, but it fits. It requires mastering frustration and standing true to your ideas to face unrelenting, unfair odds.
One who has had to keep their cool when being shouted down, and find the words to work around the lies, is strong. But will be called weak by those who proclaim they have found ease and comfort with all they do and not lived through it.
Life is not meant to be lived in B&W, up and down or even win or lose in all cases. There's a lot more to learn and give than that. JMHO.

(111,102 posts)I think we might make the point that the top Republicans on the Intelligence Committee knew this was not our embassy - it was part of a CIA compound. They knew this was an operation that went bad. Why would they try to make political hay out of it?
I think you made some excellent points in comparing this Benghazi tragedy with the Republicans attitudes toward Bill Clinton when he was President. They accused him of putting too much effort into catching Osama Bin Laden. They hindered his efforts at every opportunity.
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,414 posts)was about the Republicans finally finding SOMETHING that they could attack President Obama's foreign policy credentials on in advance of the 2012 election, as well as tar Hillary with in advance of her (potential) run in 2016. It also ultimately helped them tear down Susan Rice's chances to become SOS to succeed Hillary. I'm pretty sure at least some of them also hoped that they would uncover some kind of major criminal negligence and/or wrongdoing on Obama and/or Hillary's part that would bring them down but, of course, they have never been able to find anything.
Given what happened on 9/11/01 (which Bush/Cheney had at least some advance warning of prior) and the number of fatal US embassy attacks during the Bush (mis-)Administration, the hypocrisy of the right-wing/Republican attacks on President Obama over 4 deaths in Benghazi, as well as the intense scrutiny has been extraordinarily breathtaking IMHO.

(32,886 posts)My feeling is, they (Repugs) can't escape the hypocrisy of not supporting Obama's attempt to bring these folks to justice. They just got finished wrapping themselves in the flag during *'s time in office, suggesting we should support him in his fight against terrorism no matter what, and now they are trying to make it difficult for Obama from going after the folks we think killed these Americans in Benghazi.
That contradiction and hypocrisy is something they need to own.
