Quran anger spills to neigboring countries

Thousands of Afghans continue to protest the burning of a Quran, as the anger spills to countries in region including Pakistan, Iraq, Malaysia and Bangladesh

Twelve people were killed Feb. 24 in the bloodiest day yet in protests over the burning of copies of the Quran at a NATO military base in Afghanistan, with riot police and soldiers on high alert and braced for more violence. Protests have also raged across other countries in the region including Pakistan, Iraq, Malaysia and Bangladesh.

Despite U.S. President Barack Obama sending a letter to Afghan President Hamid Karzai apologizing for the unintentional burnings, hundreds of Afghans marched toward the presidential palace in Kabul, while on the other side of the capital protesters hoisted the white flag of the Taliban. Chanting “Death to America!” and “Long live Islam!” protesters threw rocks at police, while Afghan army helicopters circled above.

4. Pakistan is still blocking NATO convoys, so they'd have to leave their heavy equipment behind

But it is probably time to start the airlift of the troops now.

What business is it of America (as in occupying country) to clean up "old Qurans".

This is so wrong on so many levels. We do such a great job winning friends with our asinine stupidity in other countries! NOT!!!!!

if they would have just "stored" them no one would have noticed. the military`s explanation was the books and other papers were being used for communication between different sections of the prison and communication between individuals. the same methods are used with in the us prison system.

We are sitting on a powder keg with a fair chunk thinking the Crusades are back on. What other response was to be expected? Especially after that nutty preacher episode a year or two ago.
