House Speaker John Boehner is disliked by a majority of voters in his home state of Ohio, according to a poll released Friday by the Democratic firm Public Policy Polling.
Just 20 percent of voters polled said they approved of his work in Congress, down from 33 percent in an October PPP poll.
A majority, 59 percent, said they disapproved of Boehner's work. Even Republicans were roughly split on his performance, with 37 percent approving, and 34 percent disapproving, according to the poll.
The poll used automated phone interviews to survey 551 voters between August 16 and August 19.

(1,698 posts)wouldn't it be sweet to see a large portion of those confident in their gerrymandered districts get voted out. I wouldn't be able to sleep for weeks I would be laughing so hard.

(1,799 posts)He's down in the Dayton suburbs. Here's some info about his district:

In 2010 he raised over $8 million . His D opponent about a quarter mil. So....yeah, he's not going anywhere. Oh and his district is 90% white.

(45,806 posts)I can't stand the AH, and I'm white too. I used to live in Pgh, Pa. and have quite a few friends and relatives who now line in Ohio. They are all white, and they detest Boner! I'm hoping that the poll indicates that a lot of those supporters he USED to have now recognize that he's turned out to be a lousy speaker.

To those not from the area. It's mostly white, mostly Republican (like 65%) & I believe he ran unopposed last time. He's in an extremely red district so I'd be interested to see his ratings there. I'm not sure polling all of Ohio is an accurate reflection of district 8 & if we can't even get a D to run down there, we certainly can't hand him his walking papers.
Ohio is gerrymandered to hell and back for the GOP.

(45,806 posts)I'm interested though, about Boner running unopposed. I have that same problem here in Ga. I complained to the DNC, the DCC, and every Dem org. I can get ahold of. I know the idiots around here are mostly NUTS rednecks, but WHY can't we at least TRY!!!! Like Howard Dean said when he was head of the Dem Party, "We're going to all 50 states. We're going to TRY!" We didn't win them all, but we sure won many more than we would have if we never even tried! Can you at least contact the Dem party in Oh. and ask the same thing?

(1,799 posts)I'm sure I know someone who knows someone who works with the Democrats down there. I'm near Cleveland but there's only 2 degrees of separation particularly when you get into politics. It's a small world!
As I posted, the last time Boner had an opponent, he took in $8,000,000 and D brought in $250,000. We can't win like that. It may be tough to win down there at all. It's very frustrating!
