I watched the news tonight..oh boy

PBS announced the deaths of 7 service men and women in Afghanistan. And though the news was rather sad, I just had to look, at the 26 year olds and the 30 year olds who were never to return.

They had to count them all. For year upon year we count them all. We never stop. It will never stop. They sit on what's left of our conscienceness of what humanity should be,could be.

They write the books before the soldiers war is even done. The ones that show the soldier future and the soldier past in 58 minutes. The scrap heaps of humanity, the ants to the queens. I saw the film today..oh boy. From documentaries 12 years on. Nobody was really sure.

This generation stopped in time. unable to move forward. Reload the loop. Feed the tigers.

No jobs. Lousy jobs. No homes. Lousy homes. No food. Lousy food. No education. Lousy education. No vote. Lousy votes.

I saw the photograph. I can't remember them all. No one can. But they play the photographs like TAPS to the crowd of people who still care. The crowd of people who once stood and stared at the buildings falling down, down, down a long time ago. Waste visible. Carnage of disposable human beings. Preserve the plastic bags.

Found my way downstairs and had a cup. Found my way upstairs and had a smoke. Found my way to the dream.

And I just had to laugh.

I know, i also find myself tuning out the numbers out of sheer incapability to deal with the continued violence over stuff I can't fix and can't help and the disgust at my own country's choices, drone strikes, etc...

I know, thanks for saying this, it's poetic and sad and disturbing

All it's doing is hollowing us out. The rich think they're doing well, but they are losing their souls. The rest of us are losing our lives and our dreams to the never ending nightmare they gave birth to.

For the greater good of the 1%...

It's over. Time to divorce the bad "family", the bad "spouse", the lousy boy or girl friend. Our romancical fascination with democracy is over.

My husband & I are both military, between the carnage we have witnessed personally every time new notifications come out we get to find out if it was one of our friends or Soldiers that was lost. Over the years it has slowed down considerably but the emotional toll in itself has been devastating for so many of us that it has now been pushed down so deep inside hoping that eventually it will all just fade away.

Going on with you guys. We get it. Some, not enough, share in your helplessness.

I'm so sorry. So very sorry.

Two excerpts from the Beatle's "A Day in the Life" from the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album:

I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph

...

Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream
