In 2000 Gore said we should have invaded Rwanda

W in that same debate said staying out was the right thing, and that we should have stayed out of Bosnia too.

Democrats don't have a single, unified position on the use of military force. Even "real" Democrats don't. I oppose military action in Syria, but this isn't an open-or-shut case, and there's a lot of diversity of opinion on the left about using military force to stop violence against civilians. Let's try to keep these things in mind.

I got all the shots for it. Then my orders got pulled, which was just as well, I suppose.

Horrific slaughter--that will scar that country for centuries, with or without reconciliation.

I oppose military action because I think it will fuck up the rest of the middle east, but it's clearly a humanitarian impetus to go.

Wars do not.

The notion that we could have just walked into Ruanda and start singing Kumbaya is totally silly but in that respect pretty fitting for the sick prank on the American people that the Gore campaign was.

Use the money and build social healthcare and infrastructure. Other countries need help, but our people should be the priority, not viceversa.
