US Pastor/Author of Ugandan 'Kill the Gays' Bill Charged with Crimes Against Humanity

US Pastor/Author of Ugandan 'Kill the Gays' Bill Charged with Crimes Against Humanity

by ericlewis0 Aug 21, 2013 5:44pm PDT

From Care2.com:

The complaint alleges that (Scott) Lively (Pastor & Head of Abiding Truth Ministries) specifically sought out Uganda to further his agenda, knowing that Uganda was fertile ground to “meaningfully provoke and bring about the persecution of the LGBT community.” It connects his actions, beginning with his 2002 visit to Uganda, to the escalation of anti-gay propaganda and persecution in Uganda, culminating with the Kill the Gays bill.

It is the first known sexual identity and gender discrimination suit under the Alien Tort Statute (ATS), which allows foreign victims to sue corporations, governments and individuals for human rights violations.

Lively’s attorneys sought to get the case dismissed on a variety of claims, including that the plaintiffs had no standing, the Alien Tort Statute did not apply, and everything he said was protected by the First Amendment.

In a ruling last week, a federal judge disagreed, saying that because his activities occurred both in the United States and Uganda, the plaintiffs had standing, including jurisdictional. Furthermore, Lively’s actions went beyond speech and noted deliberate activity to deny LGBT people basic individual rights.

It couldn't be happening to a more pernicious fucker. I guess this is a risk you run when you try to pass pro-hate crime laws in foreign countries. I hope this monster is found guilty.

The religious right scumbag neonazis also have helped to foster the continued spread of AIDS in African nations by lobbying to attach "abstinence only" rather than condoms, to foreign aid. In 2003, 1/3 of the budget for AIDS prevention went to religious assholes rather than actual help through health intervention.

In the U.S., the religious rightwing has quite the racket going. Death to others, money for themselves.

This makes them mass murders, de facto, and includes every politician that agrees to sell their souls to these religious scumbags. Congress insisted on condemnation of prostitutes, rather than health outreach, as foreign policy in Uganda...and paid money, basically, for religious hate speech rather than health care.

Proselytizing fundamentalist missionaries in African nations have harmed entire populations by seeking to convert leaders and spouses of the same and thus gain support for policies that promote the fundamentalist culture of death and the fundamentalist hatred of classes of people.

This attempt to create genocidal laws should be met with the harshest punishment possible.

The most prominent homosexual in Uganda blamed the American religious right for creating the climate of hate that resulted in his death in an interview on NPR before he was murdered.

what they are doing in regard to homosexuals is no different than what Hitler did to Jews.

The religious fundamentalists needs to be removed from sources of political influence around the world. This sort of religion is a source of harm for the world.

not satisfied with spewing his hate filled rhetoric in America, he has been exporting his filth. I hope he will be made to face severe consequences for his disgusting actions.
