Remember-Michigan is an Open Primary. That means...

Last edited Sun Feb 26, 2012, 10:47 PM - Edit history (1)

You may vote for whomever you want. Democrats can vote in the primary. Independents can vote in the primary. Regrettably, Republicans can vote in the primary.

You will be asked for your party affiliation

Its best to bring a picture ID to avoid having to fill out an affidavit

You can still vote w/o a picture ID but you will have to fill out an affadavit to do so. Its no big deal.

Edited to add that Obama is on the ballot

that they expect about 7% of the votes to be (D)s and that they are splitting fairly evenly for Rmoney, Santorum and Paul at around 23% each (paraphrased). Hopefully the late deciders will break for Santorum.

Nothing was said concerning (I)s.

An absentee voter right now, but I won't be doing that. I like to play clean myself. Obama should be able to beat the candidate they pick. Shouldn't need my help to do it.

The people who switch parties for no reason than to vote in the primary are screwing with the system.

Pres. Obama will be able to win, but a weaker candidate at the top of the ticket will help us win more local elections.

You should vote.

in the general election. Open primaries work both ways. Next time the repubs have an incumbent, do you want them crossing the lines and voting for our weakest candidate?

My sitting the primary out may not change anything, but I can at least say I didn't take part in continuing the problem.

And saying "It's legal, so go for it." isn't a free for all. Otherwise we wouldn't be pissed at money grubbing CEO's raping their companies while the worker bees suffer for it.

and people always cross over to vote in open primaries. There is nothing new about it. That is the system and we are supposed to do it.

It is a way to help more moderate candidates compete. If all primaries were closed then the run to the right/left would have nothing to slow it down.

You have it backward. Not voting in the primary is the problem. The only difference this time around is that there is no acceptable (R) candidate in the race. Being forced to vote for someone so extremely unacceptable is what is confusing you.

Of course Repuklicans will do the same to the Democrats whenever given the opportunity, no matter what you may think. They march to whatever tune Limbaugh tells them too, and Limbaugh told the Pukes to go to the polls in what he called operation Chaos in 2008, and attempt to create problems for Hillary Clinton during the primaries. It is a free for all and will always be a free for all, and anyone but a sucker/loser can see that.

What the heck do money grubbing CEO's have to do with helping Obama win re-election by forcing the Repukes to spend a maximum amount of funds to try to get Romney the nomination?

In fact a small group of loyal liberals here (western LP MI) are going to the polls to give that lunatic our support.

This country needs a wake up call as to what the Repugs really stand for. Only by putting the most lunatic of their candidates as the nominee will the country see what they have really done the past three decades.

I see no other alternative.
