Republicans for Obama?

I talked to a friend yesterday who was telling me about an Obama For America organizing meeting she had led last week. She said about half the people there introduced themselves as registered Republicans. They not only planned on voting for Obama, they were volunteering to work for him as well.

She said she asked them who they voted for in 2008 and about half said McCain. And she asked them why they were voting for Obama now and most of them said "Santorum". One lady told her even if Santorum doesn't get the nomination, the fact that he has gone this far in the process was a major negative for all of the Republicans she knows.

Makes sense to me. This is a very Republican state, but the Republicans are split into moderates and the far right. The moderates are more and more disgusted all the time by the far right teabaggers who are taking over the party.

So perhaps we may start to see Republican for Obama bumper stickers.

the moderate GOP have ceded their party to the lunatics and have slinked away into the night.

I suppose in their world, they figure it might be easier to destroy a thing and then build it back up from scratch.

I think this could get traction, considering the extremism on the right this time around.

bad raps sometimes as a lot of far far RW kooks, but I think there are a fair number of moderates in eastern KS (some parts)? ... especially with someone like Santorum on the R ticket (if).

it's because of crazy RW stuff. I was just noticing this recently, I have no idea how this turned out ...

"Proposed Kansas Law Would Allow Doctors to Withhold Information from Women to Prevent Abortion"

"A Kansas House committee is scheduled to take up a bill Wednesday that would exempt doctors from malpractice suits if they withheld medical information to prevent an abortion. The measure would also take away tax credits for abortion providers, remove tax deductions for the purchase of abortion-related insurance coverage and require women to hear the fetal heartbeat. The bill includes several provisions, which passed in other states and now face federal lawsuits. The bill would also require women be told about potential breast cancer risks from abortions, even though medical experts discount such a connection."

...

"Among the most contested provisions of the bill is the section that would exempt a doctor from a medical malpractice suit if a woman claims the physician withheld information about potential birth defects to prevent her from having an abortion. In addition, a woman would not be able to sue if she suffers health damage from a pregnancy as a result of information withheld from her to prevent an abortion. A wrongful death suit could still be filed, however, if the mother died."

Eisenhower type republicans. I think some just vote on autopilot. With all of the stuff going on now many have to be realizing what the republicans are about anymore. I find it hard to believe that sane people would want the US to turn into what RW republicans envision ... Same here, "I sincerely hope that changes this year."

11. They are not alone- there is actually a website for Republicans for Obama 2012!

http://www.republicansforobama.org/ Check it out! Made me smile- and it began back in 2006. Spread the word!

"Republicans for Obama is a grassroots organization of proud party members who all share one important trait— we are Americans first and Republicans second.

Founded in late 2006 as part of the nationwide effort to encourage then-Senator Obama to run for the Presidency, our volunteer-run, grassroots group now includes thousands of members from across the nation. Together, we represent a cross-section of the millions of Republican and conservative independents who support President Obama's reelection in 2012.

Although we have campaigned, worked for, and voted Republican all our lives, we recognize that President Obama is the right leader for our country at this time. Our current Republican leadership is unable to stand up to the most extreme elements in our party, no matter the circumstance. Meanwhile, President Obama has challenged his own party on numerous issues, including taxes, healthcare and foreign policy. President Obama has forged a pragmatic, common-sense path forward during a challenging time.

President Obama has rejected the politics of division and the win-at-all-costs attitude that has hurt our ability to move forward as a nation. While we as Republicans will not always see eye to eye with President Obama, we know that his politics of unity is the only way forward for America."

GOP can get away with messing around with a lot of people, but don't mess with the women.

I learned that a long time ago.

First day of high school to be exact. Kid kept messing with the girl sitting in front of him. She asked him to stop. She asked him nicely too. He didn't listen. She pulled a straight razor out of her purse and slashed that boys face wide open. I seen his teeth though his cheek. Blood everywhere. Oh, what a horror show.

I have been like yes ma'am, no ma'am, anything I can help you with ma'am, ever since.
