This leaves the center and the center-right wide open for Obama to harvest votes. Why, then, would he pay any mind to the center left, the left, or God forbid, the far left?

As long as we have a right-wing nut job as a Republican candidate, the Democrats will just continue to drift to the right.

Extreme enough (even to the GOP) that he's seriously
unlikely to be elected though 80 years ago he might
have made it big in some poor European country.

just citizens united and money.. all it takes is a couple of mega bucks folks.. for whatever reason.. its not about truth or even popularity.. retail airtime does a lot
