Can the GOP beat Obama with their Gas Prices propaganda?

With little else to use, the Republicans are greatly turning up the anti-Obama propaganda heat by blaming gas prices on him.

I compiled/organized a short-list of facts I've heard here and there, mainly from Thom Hartmann and Randi Rhodes about gas prices.

1. We have a glut of gasoline now so they are now exporting it to keep the prices higher. source-TH

2.Gasoline and diesel are now our top exports of manufactured items. -TH

3.The American Petroleum Inst threatened Obama with "huge political consequences" if he didnt sign the OK for the Keystone Pipeline. Higher gas prices were probably what they meant. -TH

4.The Keystone Pipeline is for exporting gasoline from Houston. -TH

5. The Keystone will actually increase gasoline prices by 15% in the Midwest because of Canadian oil being diverted from the Midwest refineries to Houston refineries for export. -TH

6. If we opened up every possible drilling site in the US it would lower the price of oil by a few cents because the US only has 2% of the world oil reserves yet we use 20% of the world's oil. -Obama

7. 36% of oil speculating is done by banks and traders who dont use the oil. 80 cents of every gallon of gas goes into the pocket of a Wall Street oil speculator averaging $700 a year per driver.

8. More and more people being able to afford cars in China, India and Brazil every year driving up world wide oil and gas demand.

9. The solutions for high gas prices:
--- A. Nationalize our oil to create our own market for oil/gasoline. Norway,Venezuela and Brazil all have nationalized their oil. Venezuela gas prices are about 50 cents a gallon. -RRhodes

--- B. Outlaw the export of gasoline and oil from the US to keep supply higher -TH

---- C. Outlaw the speculating of oil by banks and traders that dont take actual physical inventory of oil.

----The BEST long term SOLUTION:
---- D. Declare a War on Climate Change and increase spending for Renewable Energy generation and transportation by a factor of 100. This would also greatly stimulate the economy similar to WW2 when unemploymnent went from 19% to 0%.

---AND THE SUREST WAY:
----- D.Elect a Republican president to crash the economy again, which brought gas from over $4 a gallon in summer of 2008 down to $1.80 a gallon when Obama took over in Jan of 2009 at the depths of the Bush Crash.

Most people do not pay attention to politics until just before the election. If it is too high they will blame whoever is President. Same with the economy. Details do not matter to the uninformed.

I "debate" these RW clowns a lot and believe it or not, most dont remember that gas was high in the last summer of Bush. They ALWAYS say that when Obama took over gas was only $1.80 a gallon.

Its truly stunning how fast they forget. Not only they history knowledge flunkies they cant even remember what happened a few months ago! And Fox preys on that constantly.

Not going to happen as long as they continue to run on more wars and cuts to safety net. Do you really think republicans want to see the end of SS or medicare?
