Wisconsin Recall of Governor is an Abomination of the Political Process

Opinion piece just released on Yahoo.

"What is happening to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is an abomination of the electoral process in the U.S. Voters have amassed more than 1 million signatures to recall the first-term governor because he has done what few other politicians actually do: He has carried out the very platform that he campaigned upon."

Neither Walker or Kasich or any of the other ALEC playbook governors
ran on what they did once they got into office.

A few comments made similar mention about how it's fine if it's a recall of Davis but an abomination if it's Walker. Supposedly that's just "undemocratic" and should be banned.

First of all, it's EXACTLY why we have the process of recall - to protect the people of this state from policy that hurts us. Secondly, he did NOT campaign upon attacking unions, ending equal pay and pitting public workers against the private sector. Lastly, FOADIAF, Dan McGinnis - YOU'RE NOT EVEN A RESIDENT OF WISCONSIN!!

someone who is not now nor never was a resident is telling everyone else how things should be.

At least I was born there, lived there during my childhood, have family and friends there, and still have a big interest in the state. If there were jobs available I'd want to move back.

Started by a guy who had two DUI convictions and was forced out of the race.... It's "Total recall!!""

When it's a billionaire-sponsored douchebag governor who fucked over his populace being recalled it's an "abomination of the political process".

Sorry but we here in California *KNOW* a thing or two about what that really is.

I can't stand Walker, so I would love to see him out. But I don't like how its being done.

First of all, according to Wikipedia, Walker received 1,128,941 votes in 2010. For the life of me, I cannot find an actual number of signatures. All I am finding is "more than 1 million." Without a doubt, they should be forced to get 1,128,942 signatures to force a recall election.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconsin_gubernatorial_election,_2010
According to UnitedWisconsin (http://www.unitedwisconsin.com/jan17-release), they are short of that number. I don't like that.

And I'm not generally a fan of recall elections. If this precedent was in place for the Presidential election, I'm confident that the right could find about 70,000,000 people willing to recall Obama. Now that people see what the Republicans have to offer, that is no longer the case. However, about a year ago, I bet that would have been possible.

If they could get the 1,128,942 signatures, I would feel much better. I just don't like the idea of being recalled by a minority.

How many Governors have been recalled in that state? Not many, if any, I'm guessing, which shows that the law works.

We still need to get more votes for our candidate than Walker gets to throw him out. Smart money says the law will get him first anyway.

They come up with a new set of rules every time their little games come back to bite them in the ass, explaining why when the Republicans did it, it was perfectly justified and legal, but when Democrats do it, it's "an abomination." Next item on the Republican agenda: Repealing the Turnabout is Fair Play Doctrine.

Walker did NOT campaign on cutting education funding and busting unions.

When Gray Davis campaigned on a compromise to raise some taxes and cut some services (to give something to all sides),
he was recalled. Walker LIED about his intentions, now the idea of a recall is an "abomination". Hypocrites.
