to give you an example of why we need unions the story of my wife as a teacher:

She worked for 15 years in Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle (Tacoma Catholic Schools) each year she was required to do about 600 hours of off the clock work plus take part in the life of the parish(the latter she didn't mind as she was Catholic) after 15 years a boat load of education she was being paid 24,000K in her last year she was working a young woman came to sub at the school and proclaimed that she wanted to be a nun. Since my wife taught at the lower grade and was known as a liberal her classroom was perfect for this young lady. It was proven by her subbing at the higher grades that she couldn't handle those kids. So at the end of the year they fired my wife (no cause needed, no union to help her) Luckily for my wife she landed on her feet and got a job with the public school system. She not only raised her salary from 24,000 to 49,000 that September but every time she took a class or had a meeting she got paid an extra 30.00!
