Obama has deterred Syria's use of Chemical weapons without launching a single cruise missile

By indicating his position and putting it up for debate in Congress Obama has focused everyone on Syria, and focused Syria on the consequences of further use of Chemical weapons. If there are more chemical weapons used it would only make a strike by western forces more likely. I for one hope that actual strikes are not needed. But perhaps the increased threat was.

Hopefully there will be no more chemical attacks. But, it seems that we are on a sure track to "punishment" strikes.

may only make us look weaker. The threat may be scarier than reality. The door is wide open for Obama to attack or not to attack at this point.
