We have never seen a campaign were literally billions of unregulated money can be used against a candidate. If it is Romney, the 1% will spend fortunes (or pocket change as they call it) toward his defeat, flooding the airways with whatever lies they want.
You think the Swiftboat BS was bad, just wait.

(11,101 posts)If McDonald's spent billions marketing McShit Sandwiches it probably wouldn't convince most people to eat it. Ads or no ads it's still shit. All that money can only help so much if everyone hates the candidate.

Guess what, they can.

(11,101 posts)but that's a far cry from convincing people to eat actual shit on a bun. There's no doubt that money and ads will have an impact, but in then end no amount of money will make Romney palatable to most people. Ask Senator McMahon and Governor Whitman if money is always the deciding factor.

Second, Obama is very well known. He was thoroughly vetted just 4 years ago. No doubt the PACs will spend millions and millions of dollars, but they are going to have a hard time coming up with anything new or anything that will stick.
Romney also has very high negatives. Near 50%, the dirtier he gets, the higher his negatives go, the less electable he is.
