I support the President, but I'm praying this is a bluff or nth dimensional chess

This debate has certainly shaken things up and people are finding unlikely allies on both sides. President Obama is a really smart guy, so I'm almost certain he knows that lobbing random missiles into Syria, against the will of the world, is a terrible idea and won't solve anything. Call me cynical, but I'm hoping this is some sort of nth dimensional chess move designed to scramble the deck. Otherwise, I just don't get it.

That is a great point. I think they are stalling to see what they can come up with. hrmjustin Sep 2013 #4

If we had a clearer strategy then I could maybe support this action but we have no idea of what is next.

If after the missile strike, Assad continues, then what? The US would have no choice but to do more strikes or "appear weak."

And the war is coming. Which will make it much worse.

in fact is seems to be getting worse. A bluff would be incomprehensibly foolish at this point but that is the point in reality isn't it? The president has placed himself in a corner for which there is only one way out. The question I have is why? The concerted effort and push seems scripted, orchestrated. What the hell is going on?

I have the same question. Why? And to what end? No one has answered that.

I think he's very intelligent. I just don't think he gives half a shit about people like me or what we might think. He prefers the 1%.

It's turning into amateur hour, I think the administration is truly in over their heads at this point and just wants a way out. This is really going to mess with our chances in 2014 as well, they are pissing all the liberals off, you know, the people that organize and GOTV among other things.
