I find it very interesting that night life (clubs, dancing, alcohol) continues in the parts of Syria that are still safe (under government control).
I'm sure that this will come to an end if the US bombs al Qaeda into power... These might be the last days before a long darkness of religious fundamentalist rule for Syria.

(10,745 posts)It's not all that surprising that he'd have let up on the restrictions on popular culture and stuff, even if only to prolong the family dynasty......and even if Al-Qaeda DOESN'T take over, this won't be guaranteed to last. Gloves are off.....

(62,325 posts)US can claim 'There are no AMERICAN boots on the ground'.
This is not a Civil War. Nor was Libya. This is 'the new way of fighting wars' according to Hillary Clinton who was not even trying to hide it after Libya, she was so excited about that whole phony 'revolution' which was really an invasion.
Every single one of these invasions are crimes of great magnitude.
Without the interference from outside, this Syrian 'war' would have been over long ago. Now even Syrians who used to oppose Assad have turned away from the 'revolutionaries' and are saying they will support Assad against these 'enemies of our country'. The brutality of the 'rebels' is uniting Syrians.
I hope that the rejection of the invasion by most of the world, will cause the US to begin rethinking these terrible policies.
