I don't much care for sports, but I have recorded his show just to listen to him, again. I would so love to hear what he thinks now...

(9,314 posts)No one has stepped up to the plate and equaled his commentary since he left the field. The man has not only a lot of smarts, he has a lot of guts to say the things that need to be said that no one else will touch.

(35 posts)Here is a man who is constantly getting fired or quitting even from stations that agree with this worldview. The question is how long will ESPN put up with him?

(8,515 posts)his years, so there are going to very few more opportunities such as this and I think Keith realizes this fact.

(35 posts)You are correct, he is getting on in years and the thing is, not to sound ageist, but my experience with pundits is that the older they get the wackier they become.
So if he was a burden to his peers when he was younger (which he was), I cannot help but doubt that he will be an even greater burden than before.

(17,111 posts)He talked about Satchel Paige and his own father when the MOW was being celebrated.
I think he has a better chance to last this time. KO is not in Bristol rubbing everybody the wrong way. His show is based in NYC.
For all his faults, he is still regarded with awe by many at ESPN because of his writing ability. He could write a whole show a couple of hours before airtime and it would be great.
