Now that Snowe is out, can Obama count on her vote in the Senate

Now that she need not appease the teabag Right for her primary, and given that she is likely done in politics period, could Obama have her vote on matters like the millionaires surtax (Collins supports this BTW)?

No peeing in my Wheaties, OK.

She could be courageous and actually vote her conscience and not how the party told her to vote. On the other hand if she wants to have a conservative legacy that isn't subject to significant T-party criticism, she may opt to vote with the Nazi wing of the re-piglican party.

I felt she did what she felt was right not being completely stupid. I looked at her as a "Traditional" Republican you know actually believe in small government BUT in general voted for the well being of people as she saw it.

Now if I'm completely wrong I'm sure someone will flame me. But she and Collins seemed to try and to do the right things at times.

said no. Health care comes to mind. She was by no means a brave politician she just doesn't seem as bad by comparison to the rest of her party.

Then she has tow the line and continue to slavishly follow the direction of the corporatists - i.e. U.S. Chamber of Commerce which is a rePIGlican party arm.

I have my doubt she will be any more different. She say good things but act for her own selfish interest.

moment, like another Republican woman we elected to Congress - Margaret Chase Smith. For those interested, Google Ms. Smith's seminal speech in the Senate that helped to end the McCartyhyism of the 50s.

I'm not holding my breath though.
