(54,770 posts)I suspect if Assad had thought bombing was not an option, he would never have agreed to turning over the chems. Of course, it ain't a done deal yet.
In these kind of situations, our leaders have to keep a lot of options going and hope something breaks in our favor. I think that happened here.
Whatever, I think if this deal works out, it is a big move forward in the way these situations are handled in the future.
