by two repugs have been played yet again. They think it's about guns and constitutional protection and their God given right to carry but it's not about the guns. It's about right wing, sociopathic republicans weaseling their way back into power so they can rig the rules in their favor at a terrible consequence to the rest of us in the form of pollution, unsafe foods, low paying jobs, no representation in the courts, privatization of all our commons, less and less money for public education, and endless corruption after corruption.

Fucking idiots could have lobbied against the bills if they felt so strongly but how could repugs pass up such an opportunity.

The gun nuts got played again.

After Columbine and then Aurora, the people of Colorado overwhelmingly approved of the legislation. It was unpopular only among those for whom the second amendment is the only part of the Constitution that matters.

Only one poster even mentions these recalls beforehand in the Colorado forums:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1041&sort=time

and none in the Activism forum:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1011&sort=time

Four posters discussed this in the Gun Control Reform Activism group-
and the most active one got it wildly wrong:

NRA-backed recall of Colorado Democrat shaping up to be a bust

Aside from some strongly-worded posts here, it seems Coloradan DUers did jack shit
to turn out voters.

Remember there are a lot of hill billies in Virginia who have never been out of their front yard. That's the limit of their world. They think that if they go across the street they will fall off the earth.

We now have a right wing nut job state legislature ... oh, if only Democrats had learned to be anti-union, anti-gay rights, anti-abortion ... if only we democrats had learned our lessons

Interestingly (following the Sandy Hook gun massacre of children), our extreme right wing nut job governor opted NOT to further loosen Michigan gun laws
