The stadium is just a couple of blocks away and shares a Metro stop. Tommy_Carcetti Sep 2013 #4

Right. You think having 30,000 people show up in the middle of this mess would be smart. onenote Sep 2013 #10

Perhaps, if the stadium were miles away, or on the other side of town. . . Journeyman Sep 2013 #12

since they are using Nationals park facilities as a staging area related to the incident, postponing the game was logistically inevitable.

(Observations about the metro station were not sufficient, but since the Nats have given over the parking lot to official use it is what it is.)

There still may be another guy out there, and the investigation is on-going.

They don't need to deal with a bunch of traffic and fans in the area to complicate things.

Not sure where your outrage is coming from.

I love, love, love the game of baseball....but in the end, it is just a game.

You clearly have never been to Nationals Park. Here's a clue for you: the Metro Stop for the stadium is called "Navy Yard-Ballpark"

My apologies if your post was intended as sarcasm. My sympathy to your friends if it was not.

but with it right in the midst of these troubles, it's not so much "candyass" as it is prudent.

I had tickets for the Dodgers when the '92 riot broke out. I wasn't about to prove my mettle by venturing into that morass, so I was OK when the game was cancelled. My regret then was the tickets were a gift from a vendor, and he couldn't replace them.
