The Democratic Party has made progress on social issues.

Many more Americans accept marriage equality today than just five years ago. Some states have voted to legalize marijuana and have stopped criminalizing the possession of a small amount of marijuana.

But on economic issues, the Party has lost ground. They have proposed raising the minimum wage but they have not yet done it. They have not been able to address the high unemployment rate we now experience. The middle class is shrinking and more and more wealth is concentrated in the hands at the top.

The Party has not made a moral case for the necessity of work, of having a job. They have not proposed any meaningful government intervention. Since they do not make the demands, it disappears as an issue in the public arena.

It is time for the Party to focus more on economic issues. The social progress will be of little benefit if we slide into third world status. We need to start making demands of our government. We need more democracy in the work place.
