Exactly what do Republicans think food stamp recipients do with their money? Sock it away under their mattresses? Put it in their Cayman accounts? No, you fucking morons, they spend it. And because they spend it, food producers have a market for their products. Take it a step back, and you have farmers who get to sell their products to the food producers in the first place. Distributors, retailers, and their employees are needed to transport, manage, and sell those products.

Oh, I almost forgot. Those who are among the most needy get to, you know, avoid going to bed hungry.

Sure, the president can lecture and humiliate republicans. Heck, it's so easy it's almost embarrassing. And Krugman can stop the euphemisms and call them crazy. Eventually the mainstream will call Republicans what we on these sorts of boards have been calling traitors and terrorists for years now. But, I and know I'm a downer this way, I just don't see any way to step back from the brink. We always seem to hold out hope for Republicans who benefit from these programs to see the light, but year in and year out they vote against their own interests while the 1% gets richer and richer and we become a more savage society.

The followers, no. But RW media and churches keep them terrified, scared to death of black President/socialists/libruls/brown people/mexicans/muslims/hindus/Miss 'Murrica/jews-running-hollywood/jews-running-banks/people who think/environmentalists/people who don't want their air & water poisoned/etc., etc... and Baby Jesus™ who will send them to hell if they don't vote KKKancervative.
